Reader Recommendations: Joe's Bar and Grill
Not being a particular ‘Indie Cindy’ myself I was concerned that I may not enjoy Joe’s Bar and Grill new weekly Friday night event ‘Live Forever!’ The night itself is based around three indie bands/performers who do their thing while you eat or have a few drinks. Granted different bands perform every week but if this week was anything to go by the calibre is good and the range broad. I had never been to Joe’s before and was a little dubious, expecting spit and saw-dust and other cowboy paraphernalia, however, I was pleasantly surprised; the layout was clean and spacious and perfectly adapted to either having a meal or a drink or two. The food came in large portions but was pretty basic, if burgers/chicken wings and nachos are your thing then come on down. A meal for two was about £15 but if you minus the 20% student discount it becomes pretty well priced for the good surroundings and decent music. Joe’s also has the added advantage of being placed right next to the Haymarket-just above Pacific - so is a great place to start the night. The event costs £4 and starts from 7pm but I recommend you give it 45mins or so to warm up a bit.
